I’m Charlotte Englefield, a contemporary Christian artist in Wiltshire, working from a peaceful studio on the edge of the Cotswolds—a rural retreat that brings fresh inspiration each day. I’m often left in awe of Creation, which gently points me back to the One who made it all. The light, the landscapes, and even the tiniest details in nature stir my heart - and challenge me to capture that beauty with ever-growing depth and realism, always shaped by the faith that inspires my creativity. Working primarily in acrylics, I’m drawn to a style of realism and continually push my techniques to capture even greater depth and detail. My process involves building layers pulling light colours forward, softening them with translucent glazes, and repeating the process again and again. My love for art began in childhood - sketching, painting horses and even setting up showjumping courses for my dog, Polly, or my imaginary pony. Art became my passion through GCSE's, 'A' levels and a Foundation year in Art and Design with plans to study it further. Yet life also drew me towards the healthcare sector and painting gradually slipped into the background. It was after the birth of my third child, I began painting again as a way to relax, rediscovering the joy that I had always found in creativity. In 2019, I left the hospice to pursue art full-time. By 2022, as my art supplies had overtaken the house, I started looking for a premises to rent. It was then that I found my dream artist studio near Castle Combe in a little hamlet called Long Dean, on the edge of the Cotswolds. Surrounded by beautiful views, it has become a place to paint, host art workshops in Wiltshire and welcome visitors to share in both the calm and creativity.
